Day by Day
Arrive in Rome and head straight to Vatican City. With skip-the-line access, you'll enter the Vatican Museums before the midday rush. Walk through the Gallery of Maps, the Raphael Rooms, and finally into the Sistine Chapel, Michelangelo's masterpiece overhead.
Afternoon: St. Peter's Basilica and its panoramic dome. Evening free in the Prati neighbourhood for your first Roman dinner.
A morning walking tour through Rome's heart: the Pantheon's perfect dome, the Baroque splendour of Piazza Navona, and a coin toss at the Trevi Fountain. Lunch at Campo de' Fiori market.
Evening: cross the Tiber to Trastevere for a guided food walk — supplì, cacio e pepe, and local wines in the neighbourhood's atmospheric alleys.
The day of ancient glory. Enter the Colosseum with underground access — stand where gladiators prepared, then ascend to the arena floor. Continue through the Roman Forum, walking the Via Sacra that triumphal processions once followed.
Afternoon: Palatine Hill's imperial gardens and the Capitoline Museums. Evening free — we recommend the rooftop terrace at Piazza Venezia.
A morning escape to Tivoli, just 30km east of Rome. Visit Villa d'Este, the Renaissance cardinal's palace famous for its elaborate system of fountains, water gardens, and grottoes — a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001.
Return to Rome by early afternoon for departure. Optional extension: add a fifth day to explore the Appian Way and Catacombs.
