Lakeside cycle paths, the Ponale route and vineyard rides, on e-bikes with a support van.

About cycling around Lake Garda

Lake Garda bike tours work because the lake is compact enough to ride and varied enough to keep every day different: lakeside paths at water level, the Ponale route cut into the cliffs above Riva del Garda, and quiet roads through the Valtenesi vineyards.

E-bikes make the terrain accessible to mixed groups, and a support van carries the luggage between hotels so each day can end wherever the route does. Riding days cover 30 to 50 km, with stops for visits and tastings.

Cycling days alternate with visits to Brescia, Verona and Venice, and with wine and olive oil tastings along the western shore. April to June and September to October are the best months to cycle Lake Garda.

The lakeside promenade of Riva del Garda

Riva del Garda

The lake's northern town sits under vertical cliffs, with a walkable old centre, a wide waterfront and ferries leaving for the other shores. It is the natural base for wind sports and for the trails and cycle routes that climb behind the town.

The Ponale route

An old military road cut into the rock above the water, now a gravel path for walkers and cyclists. The climb is steady rather than steep and the view over the northern basin opens at every bend.
