Cultural Tours of Italy

Ancient cities, archaeological sites and works of art that make Italy an open-air history book.

Why experience culture in Italy

On guided tours of Italy, history is not confined to museums. Roman streets, medieval centres, Renaissance squares and archaeological landscapes remain part of the cities and regions travellers move through today.

Our escorted cultural tours connect major landmarks with the wider story of each place. Rome and the Vatican, Pompeii and Naples, Florence and Siena, Sicily's ancient sites and Puglia's historic towns can all become chapters of one itinerary, travelling by our own coach with a tour manager throughout.

Local guides provide the context that turns monuments into a coherent journey, while careful timing leaves room to experience contemporary life around them.

Culture in Italy: frequently asked questions

How large are the groups?
Our escorted departures run with small groups, usually between 15 and 30 travellers. Group size is confirmed when you book, and private departures for a single party are available on any itinerary.
What is included in an escorted tour?
Hotels, travel by our own coach, a tour manager for the whole itinerary and local guides at each visit. Meals and entrance fees are listed tour by tour, so you can see exactly what is covered before booking.
Are the tours suitable for older travellers?
Yes. Cultural itineraries are built around a comfortable pace: one hotel for two or three nights where possible, guided visits of two to three hours and the coach waiting close to each site. Walking is on city streets rather than rough ground.
Do you travel by coach or by train?
By coach, using our own fleet and our own drivers. It keeps luggage with the group and lets an itinerary stop at places trains do not reach, such as Castel del Monte or the hill towns of the Val d'Orcia.
